Veterans' Educational Programs
Are you a veteran?
If you have served in active or reserve duty in the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard) and were discharged or separated under a condition other than a dishonorable discharge, you may be eligible for educational assistance benefits.
You may already be aware that you or your surviving family members could be eligible to receive educational assistance benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs'. But there are also some additional benefits you may want to check out:
- Some veterans may be eligible for reduced tuition at a Missouri public postsecondary institution.
- The state of Missouri also offers two grant programs for survivors of veterans: Vietnam Veteran Survivor Grant and Wartime Veteran's Survivors Grant.
- If you are a veteran who has borrowed federal student loans, there are also benefits and resources available to you such as a military service deferment, interest rate caps through the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and much more. You can find details about these benefits by visiting the National Council of Higher Education Resources, in which the Missouri Department of Higher Education is a member.
For more information regarding federal veterans' benefits, contact your college's veteran affairs office, Missouri's St. Louis regional office, or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
