Department of Higher Education News Release
December 10, 2018New web tools offer students enhanced college planning resources
journeytocollege.mo.gov provides a central location for student information to achieve college and career goals.
The Missouri Department of Higher Education launched two new interactive features on the Journey to College website that aim to help students make informed decisions about higher education.
The redesigned College and Degree Search allows students to search for and compare information about certificate and degree programs while the Course Transfer Tracker allows students to see how credit they have earned will transfer among all public colleges and universities in the state.
“These new tools are designed to help students find a school that is the ‘best fit’ for them by allowing students to search using different criteria such as school type, degree type, area of interest, cost and major,” said Zora Mulligan, Missouri commissioner of higher education. “By using the Course Transfer Tracker, students can track their progress toward meeting their general education requirements and see how courses they’ve taken will transfer to other public colleges in Missouri.”
The Course Transfer Tracker is based on Missouri’s CORE 42 Higher Education Core Curriculum initiative that’s designed to improve the transfer of college credit, helping students save time and money as they work toward a degree. More than 2,000 general education courses are included in the curriculum.

The website also offers important tips and advice about planning and paying for college, succeeding in school, and finishing a degree. In addition, the website offers details about the department’s Journey to College outreach programs – Apply Missouri, FAFSA Frenzy, and Decision Day. The programs and website resources help students submit college applications, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and finalize their plans to pursue higher education.
