The MDHE offers forms for Federal Family Education Loan Program* (FFELP) loans.
If you think you may be eligible for a deferment, forbearance, OR discharge/forgiveness of your Federal Stafford or Federal PLUS loan you will need to contact and/or provide the appropriate completed form to the holder or servicer of your student loan. Discharge and Forgiveness Forms
- There are a number of reasons that a borrower may be released from all or part of his or her student loan repayment obligation. To qualify for a student loan discharge or forgiveness, you must complete and submit the appropriate form.
*Note: On March 30, 2010, federal legislation was signed into law removing the authority of FFELP guarantors like the MDHE to guarantee new loans after June 30, 2010. All federal student loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2010 must be made by the federal government through the Federal Direct Loan Program.
