Are you a Missouri student working toward a certificate, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s or doctorate? Would you be willing to share your personal experiences of planning and paying for college to help other students who are planning for their future?

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development is looking for college students from across the state to help promote the importance of continuing education beyond high school. As a Journey to College Student Ambassador, your story will appear in publications and videos that help thousands of Missouri students prepare for college each year.

Here are the specifics:

Who we're looking for:

We need 10 college students to serve as Student Ambassadors. Being an ambassador means your photos and stories will appear in publications and short videos produced by the department. Students who are working toward a certificate or degree at a public or private Missouri college or university are eligible to participate.

We are looking for a variety of students - male and female, urban and rural - to represent today's college students. Non-traditional students and veterans currently attending college are also encouraged to apply.

What's involved in being a Student Ambassador:

Selected students will participate in a group photo shoot and video session with professional photographers who will capture fun and professional images and video. The session is tentatively planned for Saturday, April 23, in Jefferson City, MO, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If it rains, the event will likely be rescheduled for Sunday, April 24, at the same time. Students will receive a stipend to reimburse travel costs.

Students will be asked to provide information and personal testimony about why you decided that continuing your education was the right choice for you, how you planned for higher education, what you hope to do with your degree, and other advice or feedback for Missourians considering college.

Student Ambassador photographs and stories will be featured in the department's Journey to College publications, on the Journey to College website and social media pages, and Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development website, social media, and possibly on conference/meeting/presentation materials.

To Apply:

Submit a completed application and two digital photographs of yourself, taken within the last three months. (These do not need to be professional photos.)

Send your completed application and photo(s) to social@dhewd.mo.gov by April 1, 2022.

More details will be provided to students who are selected to be Student Ambassadors.
