High School Counselors
High school counselors play an important role in helping students plan and prepare for college, and the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) has the resources to help you do just that.
College Fairs and Financial Aid Nights
The MDHE offers customized presentations for Missouri high school counselors and other community groups. Let us help you make the most of your college fair or financial aid nights for high school students and their families. To arrange for a speaker, contact an MDHE client service representative or send a request to info@dhe.mo.gov.
Materials Available For You and Your Students
We have created publications specifically designed to provide important, easy-to-navigate college and financial aid information to your students and their families. You may order any of the following online:
- The Source - A comprehensive publication providing details about all state-sponsored student aid programs as well as many of the federal programs
- College Road Map: Directions to your future - New! A planning guide for the "road trip" to a college education, from middle school through senior year in high school
- Online MDHE: A resource for students and their families
- And more!
Advisory Committee
In 2008, the MDHE formed an advisory committee of high school counselors. The goals of the committee are to:
- Identify critical needs of college-bound students that are not currently being met.
- Provide insight into teen viewpoints and popular culture trends to help the MDHE better communiate with younger audiences.
- Identify needs of the secondary education community, such as needed training services.
If you would like to volunteer to participate on this committee, contact Wendy Baker.
